Huayuan welcomes guests from all over the world

Recently, the news of the “2023 China Shibadong Half Marathon & the ‘520’ China Rural Blind Date Festival” went viral on the Internet. It appeared both in the Wechat Moments of the people of Huayuan and on mainstream media.

On May 10, the press conference of the festival was held in Beijing, attracting widespread attention and becoming a hot topic.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the proposal of the “targeted poverty alleviation” initiative. The festival is an important part of the 10th anniversary series of activities. Huayuan has created a new model of “culture, sports, and tourism integration” with regional characteristics through events and festivals to create a cultural card of the “Red Landmark in the New Era” of Shibadong Village. Huayuan is the birthplace of “targeted poverty alleviation” and Miao people’s Ganqiu culture as well as the place where the story “Border Town” written by Shen Congwen, a literary master, happened. There are not only world-class mineral resources and Miao cultural resources here, but also world-class tourism resources.

In terms of tourism, there are mountains and water, karst caves, waterfalls, ancient villages and old ruins in the area, which is an important part of the Xiangxi World Geopark. It has one national 5A scenic area (Shibadong Village), one national wetland park (the Gumiao River), one national 4A scenic area (Biancheng Chadong Scenic Area), one national 3A scenic area (the Gumiao River Grand Canyon), as well as 248 recognized unique tourism resources. In terms of culture, the county, inhabited by the Miao ethnic group, is the “Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art” and “China Chiyou Culture Research Base”. It has the world-level intangible cultural heritage (ICH) item the Miao Ganqiu Festival, 6 national-level ICH items such as ancient songs, Miao medicine, Miao drum dances, Miao embroidery, and Miao costumes, 13 provincial-level and 180 county-level ICH protection items, and 31 “traditional Chinese ancient villages”.

Huayuan is the western gate of Hunan, bordering Guizhou and Chongqing. The 209 and 319 national highways run through the whole territory, where the Jishou-Chadong and Zhangjiajie-Huayuan expressways intersect. Xiangxi Biancheng Airport in Huayuan will be opened in mid-August this year. Huayuan Provincial Industrial Development Zone and National Agricultural Science and Technology Park are under construction.

Since 2021, Huayuan County has successively issued measures for investment promotion, and established and improved the responsibility mechanism of investment promotion work.

After adjustment and optimization, the “Basic Policies of Investment Promotion in Huayuan County” were launched on the New Huayuan Client and the New Huayuan official WeChat account on May 12, which will further reduce the publicity cost and broaden the channels for investment promotion. As early as the first day of work after this year’s Spring Festival, Huayuan sent five investment promotion teams to Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan and other regions to carry out “point-to-point” investment promotion activities, fully reflecting the clear awareness of the county of the fact that “development is the first priority, and investment promotion is the first choice”.

This activity will serve as an important platform for Huayuan to publicize its investment environment, show its investment advantages, and promote investment projects.
 
Since last year, a series of activities such as the “first Huayuan Tourism Development Conference”, “Jike Festival”, and “Spring to Border Town” have been successfully held, which have showcased the unique cultural and tourism resources and development achievements of Huayuan.
